That is lovely, much better, you just need the black vinyl type door cards to finish it off.

How did you attach the extinguisher to the recaros? I have the same seats and an extinguisher/bracket but there are no mounting holes like on the sports seats.

I just cut the bracket down a few times measured so i could still use seat handle to move forward drilled holes in seat frame. The bolts that came will the extinguisher are like self tapping ones so just tapped screwed them into holes.

if you need pics of how i cut it i will take off and take some pics when i get some spare time just let me know.

Pics would be great. I've made a bracket to hold the extinguisher cradle but I'm not convinced it'll be strong enough once the extinguisher is in place.

Take everything off that doesn't need painting.

Windows, seals, trim, lights etc etc.

Started stripping the car down on Saturday all went well got to the point now im happy with for the welder to start.

I knew the back arches had been patched up over the years but now i know it wasn't a good job. Other areas aint too bad the front looks solid jacking points may need a bit of fab but the carpet was bone dry well happy with that.

It must of had new wings the front panel is solid. Got a guy starting the welding tomorrow so i will just let him hit everything that needs doing. Got a few holes that have been parched up before that look bad but overhaul could have been a lot worse

This is as far as im going i think with the strip down needed to get to this point to check all areas.

I knew the inner wings at rear needed looking at but the states of the repairs have been shocking. Every area that has rusted had already been repaired before just badly.

Will all be cut out replaced this week. Got a moblie car welder doing the work he knows his stuff so by Wednesday the car should be back to being rust free and solid unless any more areas pop up.

Barry the welder said he aint seen anything like it been repaired on two different occasions the welder said. the inners what people in past had just made up was glued to the outer panel was always going to rust.

Thought the game was up after looking for inner arches for 3 days could not find them anyway ordered them from bmw so both sides will be new inners and outers. front footwells front of car two holes in boot and them ares near suspension top.

Is them square holes at front of car on floor not jacking points as the welder is saying not as this as been cut out 2 extra layers of previous reapirs. should i just leave the box out?

Think it would be good to replace with a 1cm cut of box section or just leave off. be glad when this shell is solid again the roof rear panel front of car solid just these areas the price of welding and panels will be close to a grand. And then it needs painting and all the clips and what ever else i break

I think perhaps this is why it didn't sell!

Good to see it is getting sorted now. It looked good in the photos before, so once its all done, you know it is all going to be nice in real life too. Take lots of photos to document the repairs which will help the value if you decide to sell in the future.

Well done with the work, I would estimate your welder mate to be busy all week and well into next week

As a bench mark we did 10 days of fab and welding on my grey tech1 , followed by 2 months for prep for painting, yes 2 months

Keep up the good work

Dont understand how the rust could have put people off nobody seen the car and i didn't even know the rust was in the places new the rear arches needed work but not that much.

Could have sold the car a few times after i changed the bits just didn't two weeks ago had a good offer off a guy on here but i backed out last min. Thats it now all out get it finished i suppose no mater what e30 you buy these days most proberly all of them will need or had welding done be glad when its solid this week.

as for pics yes i keep on taking pics as hes welding so will have a good amount of the resto. I have looked anywhere i can and once The welders done the car will be rust free. hes been at it two days already and he easy has 3 days left :( :( :(

He quoted me 180 quid on a few pics i sent him to put the two outer arches in thats all i thought it needed.

when he cut the outer arch out he just refused to patch up said it was that bad i could of cried by this time i had found the other bits of rust.

He lives five min up the road said he will do everything on the car for 600 quid. Got the rear inners from bmw just waiting on post hes done a bit already. need the rolling shell away by next Monday for the bodyshop as im back to work for 3 weeks and drop all the panels kit off then that gives me the time to put it back together get it running before the panels kit turns up
