Save it, there's been worse than that welded up,

That's just a normal amount of rust for an E30.
if it's got t*ts or wheels it's bound to be trouble...............prove me wrong.

If you pull down the door seals and the carefully peal back the headliner you can see the front corners, on the outside is were you will see it if its there where the tray is bonded to the roof.

ive inspected this i have pulled most the headlining down and inspected all four drains and sections and the tray/cassette...it looks almost like its still brand new....with the one off dust sized speck of surface rust about but nothing to worry about for atleast another ten years ....
would you guys think its worth misting waxoyl (i have an air compressor was thinking of thinning waxoyl down and using a paint gun to mist it into the sections) into the sunroof cassette section and under the headlining to help prevent any future rust forming or spreading quickly?

I would be inclined to use Jenolite rust remover then paint zinc-rich paint on - Waxoyl could drip onto the headliner and stain it.

thanks maurice but would you spray zinc rich paint into the cassette section where the sunroof rests when its fully open?...in this section waxoyl seems a bit more apealing to me as its an easier application....just misting it in though...not thick huge amounts? Lol

I suppose a mist of Waxoyl or similar would suffice. I was thinking more along the lines of brushing zinc-rich paint in there, rather than spraying it, which could lead to unwanted overspray.

that would mean unbonding the tray from the roof and then refittin/welding it back on after paint?...hmm seems un necessary for that much work as its really clean under there at the moment
i was thinking more of a process which means i dont have to strip the tray from the roof tbh

Well, if you can't reach in with a long, thin brush, then yes, a Waxoyl aerosol or similar would be just the job.
