Update
May 2014

I had to buy 2x New Lemforder Track Rods And also a steering wheel cover
These were bought from ECP.

These were fitted at KDS Wheel Alignment centre. The KDS wheel alignment was done on Hunter Hawkeye machine. I had to return a few hours later as my wheels needed balancing.

Update
After the KDS Wheel Alignment and wheels balancing I was to join the BMW Car Club road trip.
I went to PacerPete's and he really saved my bacon and fixed a few outstanding issues
Speedo fixed: using used speedo cable
Sunroof: only works when a door is open and this was resolved by fitting a relay which was missing in the fuse box.
Test drive: drives and handles fine
Brakes: fine
Fuel leak: he investigated by looking near where the fuel pump is. There was a hole in one of the lines and he fixed by trimming this.
Tyre pressures were also double checked and inflated to correct tyre pressures.

Manufacturers ever considered that - fitting a diff depending on the part of the country you're living in?
Is this the car your planning to go drifting in?

Lots of work going on there - going BMW main dealer only would have cost you much more then you could have got the same parts for, but you probably know that already.
Did you do any of the work yourself or was it all outsourced??
(£65 to replace a boot seal - come on - thats not even a 5 min job!)
Car looks good though, i must admit!

All of the work was outsourced.
The first garage I used I have not used them in a few years now as their quotes are expensive and they lack the detailed knowledge of E30s. The plus point is they are very close to me. The owner is a nice enough guy he probably ain't too pleased I went to someone else. I used him a few times for my old E46 323Ci Coupe (replace radiator/water pump/ MOTs). Also the E30 work as mentioned.
When he changed the belts on the E46 323Ci WITHOUT asking me first with ECP parts (rather than New Genuine BMW!!!!) I wasn't happy. Also there was squealing noises from the belts on cold start ups which maybe suggest tension is not correct.

Yes has come along away. Still a few things I am not happy with.
More like the work I have been paying others to do for me.
I want to learn how to do a few things myself which would save a bit of money and cars are interesting anyway. I just don't feel mechanically competent to ideally would like someone to show me the ropes or watch/learn from them. Have possibly been thinking of doing an evening course about car maintenance but maybe I can learn from some mechanics instead
The gear shift mechanism the previous owner Andrew Dale changed to Z3 mechanism. This is SUPER TIGHT now with some of the mechanical work done with PacerPete. I think I would have preferred it slightly looser. Also the layshaft rattle in the gearbox which was listed in the BMW Approved Used Car Check has been sorted. I beginning to wonder what a nice tight original E30 shift would feel like instead of what I currently have.
The illuminated gear knob is fitted but the illumination isn't plugged in yet and will be done soon at some point when some more mechanical work is done.

hey Pony, you know what, I fitted a Z3 shifter with new bushes in the cab turd and it was too switchy for my liking. I prefer the normal throw with a new metal knuckle and rubber bush personally.

I need to drive a as new E30 gear shift mechanism so I know what an original one feels like to see whether I prefer that.jimbom30cab wrote:hey Pony, you know what, I fitted a Z3 shifter with new bushes in the cab turd and it was too switchy for my liking. This Z3 type one is super tight. Maybe will get a bit looser soon.
The E46 M3 CS has a nice good tight shift @35800 mileage.
However, is not as tight as the mechanism in the 325i.

No not Wood Green. The steering wheel has only had a week and a half of use and already showing wear marks!!!!
