Thought I share some pics with the Tech One members on the Zone

I picked this up on Thursday. I've known about the car for a couple of years now.

It was imported by Blitz in 2009 I believe and sold to Oakey who had a little front and rear end bump.

The car is basically a LHD Tech One with a 320 lump and spaz box.

More importantly its rust free and I mean completely rust free!

Also as a bonus its minus any sunroof.

I had a bit of a trek to pick it up but the E39 worked its magic. 480 mile round trip of Diesel power! Many thanks to Dave.

At the minute there isn't one. I have stripped all the bumpers off and bonnet. It only needs a replacement bonnet and some heat gun action on the kit.

If this was a genuine tech one then I would be daft not to restore it but its not.

I've always wanted a track car and got half way to building one but got all anal about non sunroof shells.

With this being LHD any engine swap will be without the manifold issues.

I think a nice stripped out M52 track weapon would be good or possible a S52 sleeper.

I've got time to start reading up on the conversions and collecting parts as I've promised the gaffa no more spannering for a while.

At least its not going to rust in front of my eyes.

Very nice buy, perfect for a track weapon. Shame about the crash damage, vaguely remember hearing about that a sometime ago.

The damage really is superficial. No structural damage just the bonet and kit. The kit is in perfect condition bar the damage. All the nuts and bolts are rust free.

Dan how are you fixed for a S52 swap?

It needs paint if its going to be a road car so a full lightweight track weapon is looking like the plan for now.

I cant make my mind up weather to keep the kit or replace it with some fiber gash.

I have a 2.8 and pretty much everything to go with it that will be going cheap, will obviously cost a hell of a lot less than an S50 conversion and will be much lighter

Sadly I'm thinking of selling this.

The boss has found out how much my new MTB is going to cost and I have come to the conclusion that I would rather ride that track day.

No it will be complete with dash and donk and all the lights etc.

The car is running and driving and rolling on excellent condition 325i sport suspension including rear disks.

I will get some pics sorted once I'm back from holiday.

Thought I would share a few welding pics with you

Sometime in the past the car must have had a burst battery. I was gutted to find It had made quite a mess of the fire wall.

I decided that I couldn't sell the shell with this rust so I cracked out the mig









As you can see the battery acid had run down the bulk head between the sound deading and burnt through the metal!

I cut all the grot out and replaced with fresh metal. I just need one more patch in the floor and she will be truly rust free!

You don't see many factory pads like this!



I will get some more pics up once I have done the last repair section and hit the welds with the grinder.
