hope you like the work iv done so far..

this little jem was prob to clean to go for the look im after but i got her at the right price at the right time so she is going to get it..

Image

first i striped the paint off and then speeded up the rusting with a blend of herbs and spices,,

This sat for a week or two so the rust could sink in a bit,,

While waiting for this i went about lowering her, i cant afford airbags or coil overs yet and could not find springs low anoth, so got some springs from other car makes untill i found the right ones, i did not fancy cutting them as the rear have double piggys

[/img]Image

i could not get the front any lower as engine will hit speed bumps so it will have to wait for now till new engine goes in.

next i sprayed on some sign wrighting for my shop and distressed it, all the rust was sanded down slightly and then soaked in rust killer ..

i have not sealed her yet as im not quite happy with the finish yet, i want it to look burt out not like its had a spray tan, lol

i have nowhere near finished as i have plans to fit a new engine lower it even more, fit a modern interior and blah blahh blahh were see how long that takes first lol

That looks cool! (even though a part of me thinks it's wrong somehow! :bolt: )

I can't help thinking that it needs a set of rusted banded steel wheels though! :thumb:

i think the ratty look should be done naturally much like the "missile" look in drifting..

not made into a ratty/missile car but more so it ends up that way due to hard usage!!

i wouldnt do it to my own car, but it looks cool for the application and i can see the idea with advertising the tattoo parlour

what springs did you use on the back vauxhall nova? i had a set on mine but being the wrong spring rate they didnt ride that well, you can get custom wound ones though which i now have - 80mm 8O

i like the combo of shiny wheels and rusty paintwork though very scene :)

the look im going for is sort of a rat, but my intention is to make it look burt out, not rusty
im going to get on it soon so that the car does not deteriorate any more than a painted one,its hard to let a car do this on its own in the uk as it would be full of holes befor the desired effect,

i know it looks a bit broke this low but i love that, and it rides pretty good. not sure if it will when its got all that weight of a v8 in the front

i dont mind that its not to every ones liking, thats the whole point aint it, i dont want it to look like every body else's and to up the game these days and be different you need to be a bloody millionaire with a garage..

more pics will follow as work progresses

This isn't getting half the bumming I expected.

It will certainly turn heads... :)

why should it have to get "bummed" just because someone has tryed something different? No need for everyone to turn into key board warriors just to slate it..

its like most people on this forum wait for the first person to start slating someones project so that everyone can jump on the band wagon. Surly thoughts like this is what has put that notice on the forum, too which you have to agree with before you sign in...

i find it sad realy that such a good forum like this is so narrow minded that only bmw's with mtech kits and bbs's are excepted immediatly.

im not starting a rant as i dont post on here oftern due to how narrow minded it gets when someone trys something differnt.

i think this e30 is cool, i dont see a problem with it providing it gets sealed so the rust doesnt turn into rot.. then it would seem a waste but other than that is sweet :P

Calm yourself. I simply was referring to the mass bumming that I expected it to get.

Anything euro or stanced gets annihilated on here.

I like it, is good to see someone doing something else with an E30.
There was a touring around mine that had been covered with AstroTurf. Certainly turned heads.

I think ya wheels contrast nicely with the rusted bodywork.

I think it looks pretty good, though I'm not sure a rusty ratter is ideal for advertising a tattoo studio! (Conveying an associated image of dirty needles, etc.)

Mind you IMO i needs its grille putting back in.

Also i was just watching sucker punch. Have you thought about putting some kind of artwork on it i.e. ww2 nose art from the bombers and such. It would be a great way of advertising your skills as a tattoo artist.

If you look at the e28 rusty build he rubbed engine oil on it to achieve that burnt effect rather then the rusty orange look. Free advice :D

Image

looks sweeeeet!!

put the grill back on and push the bonnet down, so it still has clean lines

Hark at all the rimmers looking for some cheap ink !

It looks totally contrived and toilet. On the other hand it is just another bridge dodging £200 318 touring and you are happy, so who cares :)

For me, the best rat look consists of a really Fecked up exterior (and I love the the rusty look you've got) and really expensive and shiny wheels.
The interior should also be immaculate. I really like what you're doing, mate - I particularly like the missing grilles!

Post some more pics.
