Anyway, the E30 is still better. I don't have any niggly f**king problems with it! And people don't cut you up / not let you in etc. when you're driving it. :roll:

They both look good, but the E30 is fantastic, the interior (including the dash) looks as new as the 330! :wink:

It's just well looked after!

My brother-in-law cherished it. He emigrated to NZ and couldn't take the car with him. It was sitting in my father-in-laws garage gathering dust so I offered to 'liberate' it.

Its completely standard and original with a lovely switchable auto box. I have to be honest before I drove this car I didn't like BMW's or automatics. Now I'm sold on both. Thus the new one!

E46 looks lovely too. Much better than an E36, especially in 330 mode!

The E30 is used as little as poss (only in dry weather etc.). It's not that I'm too precious over it - just that it has only done 58k from new so seems a shame to heap on the mileage now.

Agree about the E36. I never liked the look of them. BMW got it right again with the E46. Loved the colour of the E30 so much I tried to get the E46 in the closest colour.

Can I ask where you got that wind-deflector on your E30 from. Im on the look-out for one for my E30. Plus your Mtech steering wheel; was that with the cab when you got it? Its just I prefer the look of that to mine [see my pics in the Photo Gallery] and its a little smaller I believe - Im 6'6" and my legs get kind of in the way!

I have to say I've ditched the wind deflector. It did make a difference, but was more of a pain than anything else. It's a bugger to remove / install and stops the seatbelts retracting properly.

My dad-in-law fitted it. Think saw it advertised in Performance BMW magazine. I can check with him, but like I said - I wouldn't recommend it really.

As for the M Tech steering wheel - that was with the car from new.

No disrespect to your father in-law, but I fitted mine and had similar problems to start with. All it took was a little adjustment and it was fine.

Granted, they are a little more difficult to fit than the OEM units, but hell of a lot cheaper!

Does that mean you'll sell yours to Bug4Life then...? It'll save him getting a new one!

Disrespect my father-in-law's DIY as much as you like. I spent the first year in my new house fixing all the sh*t DIY he had done to 'help out'. Every curtain pole he put up fell down at the first tug of the curtains.

To be fair I'm not sure mine is much better. That's why I don't try. I'm not entirely sure I'd be able to take the fixing mounts out. Don't you have to remove the rear panels? Last time I tried to remove the panels to replace the speakers I broke all the clips. Had to book the car in to get BMW to put it right! :oops:

You have to remove the WHOLE of the rear 'door card' bit... it's a bitch of a job TBH. But the mounts are on just one bolt (the same as the seatbelt mount) so you can rotate it slightly to alter it.

I'd get an OEM deflector next time... much neater and easier to use, just more expensive...
