They are not quite tucked yet harry... but lets just say i drive round with my arse cheeks clenched lol

I set the BM up for the snow on Monday.

It turned up yesterday but by the time it came to going skidding in it.. it was all ice but its snowing (ish) now so fingers crossed for tonight

I fitted some non banded G60 steels (what a difference 2"s makes eh!! ) with nice balloon tyres.. Its not been washed for a month so looking rather slagish..

Cheers Kemix.. Its on G-max shocks all round but they are past their best and haven't handled the chop to well lol.. whats yours lowered on?

The plates came on the car... but im guessing they are uk font pressed plates from dubmeister.. These ones are not legal as they have no stamps or postcode etc

No problems with rubbing on the 8's... only when i fitted my 5mm spacers

:chuckle: looks good though! Mine are 60/60 springs on standard shocks, seem to be coping just fine! Will be changing the rears to 40mm for the summer as I'm getting 16x9 borbets, don't think they will fit otherwise!

I love what you've done with the car, the exact same thing I'm aiming for my prefacelift 316. What's the rear suspension setup?

A tiny bit of work on the rear arches... but then i gave up doing more and just took the 5mm spacers off which sloved the scrubbing

Its abit of boring update but an update non the less.

I removed the banded steels because they were leaking air.. After taking them to my mate at ATS to be inspected it turned out it was the valves that were leaking and lucky for me not the bands.. After stripping the tyres off it was clear to see that the welds were not allowing the valves to sit flush and get a full seal, so they leaked air when the valve was moved..

This was simple enough to cure with a little grinding.. Im also going to seal the valves in with silicone before I have the tyres refitted just to be on the safe side.. I can't wait to get them back on, it looks so s**te and skinny on the 6J steels.

And some fun with the split trim

Trimmed lowering springs + dodgy English roads + 2.5" sump clearance = Merry Christmas Winston

Image

Fingers crossed i can work my magic with some Quicksteel, it was due an oil change anyway lol.. I will have a closer look on monday

A couple snow pictures to lightern the mood

lift the engine up... both mine smashed sumps, raised the engine up on spacers on the engine mounts and not had any issues since!

This man speaks the truth!

I also did that in the end (after too many sump scraps)

You can then go lower too ;)

Is it any easy job raising the engine? What kind of price are we looking and how much clearance would you get? And is it as simple as hoist the engine, undo mounts and lift slighty & pack with spacers

mine came up above the steering rack which was enough to stop it smashing the sump on cats eyes!

undo the lower bolts for engine mounts and lift the engine until you have just over a nuts thickness of thread pocking out ...then fill that gap...i also thought about packing on top of the mount but like i say you only need to clear the rack...( on mine the rack bolts and inner ball joints on the wish bones now are the low points)

mine runs 15's with 45 profile rubbers and prob 80mm down on the front.

What sort thickness spacers could I get away with without the engine hitting the bonnet??

Very interesting... I had a close call the other day where I thought I cracked my sump, but thankfully all was good!!

Cheers

prob get 10mm in i'd of thought...depending on mounts...look to see what threads poking out the bottom, or undo the night until its just got full thread poking through the nut and measure the gap! neither of mine hit the underside of bonnet....

Wouldn't recommend it unless you are a specialist with the correct equipment, which if you were you wouldn't be asking the question!!!!

Probably wear your prop/diff bearing out quicker due to the angle change? But which is easier/cheaper/easier to find...? :D
