Bit of an update.
First thing was new rear discs and pads, because I couldn't figure out for the life of me why the rear brakes kept squealing, even if I wasn't pressing the brake pedal at all! Hope this fixes it...
I've taken the Zender wheels off so that I can make them all sparkly for shows, and use the Beyerns to run around on, so it doesn't matter if they get Friar Tucked:

The Beyerns look rubbish, I know, but I'd rather keep the Zenders off the road, as they're bare aluminium faced.
I took all of the front grills off and gave them a good clean and a few coats of matt black:

Also did the same to the vents in the top of the bonnet.
Some kn8b broke my electric aerial, so I replaced today, too. I had one in my E30 that was almost brand new, so it didn't cost me anything. Need to get a switch in there, so that when I'm listening to CDs or using the aux. input, I can have the aerial down. Did this on my E30 before and told people the switch was for nitrous!
I also messed around with the wipers - I took one off and put the passenger one vertical to see what it looks like. Turns out Derek on Forum5 did a Photoshop for me:

I think I like it!
While I had the grills out, I also ditched the headlight wash/wipers. I completely removed all of the system, except the wiring. Took the opportunity to polish the headlight rings and lenses, they look fantastic now!
Here's how the headlight surrounds came out after a good polish:

I painted the little bonnet catch arrow red:

Notice that the wiper stops are gone. I'll have to do something with those holes that are left behind...
And finally how the front grills look now they're fresh black:

Those aren't scratches on the front - it's water droplets.

Cheers!
What flavour did you nearly buy? M535i?

Sounds like you might have some knackered calipers on the rear brakes if they're squealing when your foot isn't on the brake pedal. If your new pads don't sort the noise it might be worth taking a look at the calipers...

I've sorted the rear brake problem, thanks anyway!
I didn't understand why it was making racket, even after I'd cleaned the rear calipers out, and even re-made a new set of rear pistons on a grinding lathe.
New discs and different pad material has sorted it.
Forgot to mention - it's 3.5 by the way!

Cheers chaps, I've actually got some original Zender wheels that are rarer than rocking horse poo to go on:

Zender wheels, because:

Rubber isn't cheap, though.

I remember!
What a SHIT drive up that was, it took me 2 and a half hours from Brighton... I was so stressed by the end of it that I ended up parking on the curb and damaging my front wheel - I was gutted...
Nice pictures, cheers!

Easy - just have a switch to make or break the ignition feed to it.abeazer wrote:how do you put a switch on your aerial to choose when you want it up or down?

I quite like the Beyerns - they give it a modern look, however, I prefer the deep-dish 5-spoke alloys you had on there, although the Zender wheels are pretty trick also
