Brand of paint doe make a difference, you want to go with a brand that has a good rep, both paints you have listed are of high quality... One thing to look at is UV ratings and what sort of guarantee the paint offers.. Most paints claim a life of 10 years ect ect...

PPG, Debeers, Glasurite and Dupont are also good brands... But they all cost $$$...

Sikkens are a big company and do paint for every application aswell as stains and varnishes.

PPG is the one that my painter mates use!

Out of those two I would choose sikkens but if you can get others I would go with du pont.

At work I personally use du pont, ppg and ixell and have used glasurit and lessonol in the past.

Basecoat you could use a cheaper brand and then get the best possible lacquer you can as that is what protects it all and as said above the uv a better one is genrally better.

Also some lacquers are not totally clear so can change the colour a bit so something to think about.

is it not a problem to mixed base coat and lacquers with different brand?
