Hi everyone, I'm new to bmw ownership and I've just swapped my Fiesta XR2 for what you see below. It's a 320i with a factory fitted M-tech kit (seems factory fitted from what I can tell). Also has factory remote central locking/alarm which is nice.

I've been in to older Fords for years so I'm used to having no features and lots of rust!! I still own an Escort RST but the BMW is my daily driver, and I'm loving the build quality and smoothness of the engine :D

Needs a bit of paint on the plastics as they've been sprayed before and are peeling a bit in places, and maybe a good machine polish as the roof and boot are a little faded, but it's not bad for a 20 year old. Only bit of rust I can find is in the passenger rear inner arch, but I know this is a common problem. The drivers rear inner arch has had some work too but it seems to have been done properly, so I'm happy with that. Underneath and in the boot etc is all clean as a whistle, the boot floor actually looks like it's been polished 8)

Plans for future: 51mm sport suspension, stainless steel exhaust, slipper and maybe a chip for the ecu, though I've been doing some homework and realise that an m20b25 will drop straight in so I may just do that if I can find a cheap engine. Oh, and not to mention sorting the bus-like steering out wiith an e36 rack...

Thanks for all the replies! Yes, this is Tiz's old car - we did a straight swap, my Mk2 XR2 for the BMW.

Definitely liking the idea of OEM+, tho the phrase is a bit of a cliche. I just want a straight, fairly standard car with small upgrades in the right places. Liking the idea of the m20b25 dropping straight in tho, that definitely sounds like a future plan. I'm on the lookout for a new interior too. Black leather sport interiors seem to go for silly money, but I'd quite like either black leather or grey cloth from a tech 2 sport.

Immediate plans are to get the brake disc retaining screw drilled out on the drivers side (head of screw is ruined) so I can change over the discs and pads for slightly uprated and non-warped items. Then I need to investigate the humming noise I'm getting - pretty sure it's going to be the prop centre bearing.

Cheers!

Indeed it would, that's another thing I forgot to mention above! Can you buy the shadowline trim new from BMW still?
