Hello,

Went and bought a e30 318is in alpina white off a boy on ebay. travelled from edinburgh to Cardiff to pick up the motor. Drove it back alright in 8hrs just took it easy. Needed a rocker cover gascket, done, needs new front wing, and a bumper but im thinking of getting some side skirts and a body kit anyway. Cars done 200000, i know its a lot but it pulls and i will be putting a new engine in it when i have the dough. I actually bought this car as im starting college soon to do automotive repair including bodywork and welding and thought this wud be an awesome project to learn my trade on as well.

anyway heres some pics. any local e30 owners give me a shout am up for a meet lke.

Im looking for lowering springs, front and back bumpers to go with sideskirts i have already bought. And i was thinking about angel eyes but im not sure if it will be tacky if you know what i mean cos i wanna keep the origanallity as much as possible if you know what i mean.

The m42 is the 318is engine, i changed my rocker cover to a nice repainted one and ever since the spark plug holes gaskets have leaked, changed my plugs yesterday and got oil everywhere as the holes were half full of oil

I'am ordering the gaskets from bmw only a couple of quid each

Oh and your car probably wont have a cat anyway

Hi mate welcome.

M42 is your engine code, M42B18 to be precise.

Gasket should come with your set.

Your car is a post facelift, after 1988, has 'smiley' front headlights and different rear lights.

Ive got fogs and buttons for you.

As Alex said

Almost all UK 318is came without a cat although i think they were an expensive option althouhg they all have a midle box that does look like a CAT but it isn't its streight through. take it off and have a look properly, put somthing down it and i'm pritty sure there wont be anything in the box. just to save you some money :D

Bob just misses his old iS really :P

Looks alright, what skirts did you get?
I would leave it as it is and not put any bodykit on it as no point in making it look like a 325i Sport.
Don't bother with angle eyes either. Make yourself a set of smoked headlights.

Supersprint is probably the best sounding exhaust for the iS. they are a half system that bolts on just behind the resonator box (the one you thought was a CAT)
M42 rightness above 6500rpm, nobody can hear you scream

im not sure mate they came off a broken 325i. but i might not put them on. I like the ones that I have a set of white eyebrows now as well and with the black kidney grills and smoked headlights (good call) the front will look mean. then needs lowered and and some new wheels. :D

Just leave it 'IS spec mate, get a IS front splitter. Lower it slightly or slam it (depending on look). Job done.
