The touring is getting a quick refub to make it presentable and used and abused so the 4 door can be garaged and only used for meets/weekends

Satin paint always looks good I think.. I did my ZXR400 in satin a few years ago.. regular washing keeps it looking top!
And yes to your above question.. the prep takes ages and you'll find areas more of a time consuming pain in the ass that that tailgate!

I'll just have to take my time i think and get it best prepped the best i can.Not in a hurry to get it done but patience has never been one of my strong points.Leemc2009 wrote:Satin paint always looks good I think.. I did my ZXR400 in satin a few years ago.. regular washing keeps it looking top!

I know what you mean.. whenever I paint stuff.. I just want to get the colour on straight away and more than often rush the prep and get disappointed with the finish..
The only time I've done a really really good job was on my sisters car, and I spent a very long time prep'in.. sanding down between layers.. cut the lacquered finish..

So you'll be come to Glamis with the rest of the 'oldies' next year then

Got abit done today.
First up was to fit the borbets woohoo
Then i got in about the surface rust and lucky enough thats all it was barr one bit that holed on the front valance but no biggie.
Got all the surface rust cleaned, treated and most filled.
Got hungry so the sanding will have to wait.
Also got the erratic fuel gauge sorted and painted the needles red will the cluster was out.
As usual with me plenty pics ;tounge;
First up is it with the borbets on.The front needs lowered around 60mm and the back about 40mm which should be ok as the rear arches will be rolled before painting. The other car is gcs325i's after his new rubber was fitted.

One with the is lip temp fitted

Some of the scabby bits getting the message

New rear arch

long ways to go but another step forward woohoo

A little more progress made tonight.Got nthe interior out to check the floor pan as gcs325i noticed on of the bungs had gone while we were fitting the wheels.
I was dreading doing it as i knew i'd uncover something else that needing doing but out it came anyway.
passengers foot well all good barr the bung needing replaced woohoo

drivers foot well all good barr the bung needing replaced woohoo

rear passengers well all good woohoo

driver rear well not so good but not to bad either. The bad bit around the bung will be cut out and plated.

All in all not to bad really expected worse if i'm honest.

Dr Pepper?? I though IRN BRU was the only soft drink available north of the border?
Nice job on the car, do you fancy doing a white one next?

Ordered all the bits and bobs i needed to get tonight so will be able to make a start on prepping the engine as soon as they arrive.
It would be rude not to stick in a lightened flywheel at this point so my mate is trying to sort that out for me.(cheers jbh)

Hole in the floor has been replaced with a patch from Garys breaker last night.
Then covered with seem sealer.

And got another day at it today
Got the interior in and im over the moon with the black carpet.
Also fitted smoked headlights and as i cracked the highbeam lens i used hella ones i had spare, which was a blessing as i think they look better.
Also fitted 4300k hids and again with Garys help we got the rust free wheel well in and seam sealed.
some pics of the work done today.

I got alittle mixed up with the numberplate from the tailgates and snapped minjes in have for the bin thinking it was off the one i picked up from the scrappies poke/
So treated myself to new ones
