Yes after all these years of slagging the 320 i went and bought one. All of what i had said was true!

This maybe familar to some on here as its Gazmans old car.

I've changed the red skirts to stock black

Oh whats this?! a 2.5! Relax its no ordinary 2.5 as it's come out of this turd!

Image

An Alpina 2.5 engine which was the 268/268 cam with alpina exhaust and a remapped ECU to suit good for 191 BHP in the day. It's covered a megre 115k and has been strapped to an auto box. It's in fine fettle after i've been near it! lol I've had the head off getting the camshaft copied. So all new seals top end, service items, belt, water pump bla bla and a good clean with a sump gasket to boot and all the other shite you do when its on an engine stand "while your there" stuff

Excellent service history and proof of alpina history to go with it also

I've attached a manual box to it from a tech1 sport with a new knuckle for the gear change, LUK clutch and lightened fly around 5.9kgs it is. I had to use the f**king manual propshaft from my 2 dr resto as the 320i one would go with the 2.5 parts but hey ho!

Image
Image

I did this last week in the evenings after work.

I've also fitted a 3.91 LSD so it's full 325i now bar the ABS, fitted some M3 lolipop bushes to tighten the front up

Image
Image

I've swopped the interior to this sports trim, which i've yet to finish. It's a bit scruffy at the moment and letting the car down but i'll get round to it

All done then basically and being used

Image

Great little car for a daily, it's on a 40mm drop what i couldn't tell you Dave knows! It rides nicely though

I've got alpina 7j rims and a front spoiler along with steering wheel, gear nob and badges all spare from the breaker to make it full C2 2.5 spec. What do we think?

I like it as it is in Grandad spec with mudflaps and 320i badge! No one trying to race you, so what do we think? Madness i know but.......its all good fun

It's a bad problem! with the evenings back i'm out there mincing every evening at the moment!

Garage/stock clearance is the current task. SPACE is the motivation, sorting it all out is a different matter . So many E30 parts its crazy

That black 4dr engine donor is sadly very rusty, shame as dare i say it. It was the best looking 4dr i've ever seen or would of been 10 years ago when it wasnt a turd

Jes*s dropped this in after work in the evenings.................... 8O

I managed to take 3 weeks to remove my rear beam and associated connected parts off my old chromie.

Mind i have the mechanical knowledge and ability of a potato :D

Full C2.2.5 spec sounds very appealing

I've lost count how many times i've pulled and refitted M20's whether its one of my cars or helping someone. Feel like a robot now. It was 3 eves last week. I was delayed 1 day because i had to tow an astra van home 5 miles one eve in the alpina touring, loads of grunt for towing!

Diddler if you fook about with a 325i long enough or many soon you'll be flying!

Looking good Si, I'm about halfway through '325ing' my chromie, it's only taken me 8 months so far, looks like you managed it in a couple of evenings.

I say keep the 320 badge, sleepers are the way forward (although the alpina snowplow might give it away).

Ady to be fair all tourings come with rear discs. So i was a bit ahead.

Also i've had to remove the 2.5 engine, i've had the head off and dramas with GSF giving me a 320 headgasket and me only working this out when the head was torqued down and the engine seemed to be seized solid!

Throwing it in isn't the worst drama it is prepping for the time to fit that takes time.

I like 320i plain jane at the moment, i don't have the money to refurb the pina rims and get the spoiler painted red either

Nice touch.

It's great to see this attention to detail.

Looking forward to hearing how it drives with the new engine.

I'm curious what you think comparing how well the 2.5 Alpina revs in comparison with the 2.7.

Why fankyou :o:

the 2.5 revs better than stock but i can't help but think there isn't alot in it being the 2.7 has a more hairy cam, headwork and funky 6 branch - it revs very well maybe not quite like Oguz's 2.7 but not far off. His engine is more top end with less low end grunt.

Both pick up very well, but as you would imagine the wee 2.5 hasn't got the same punch. Saying that it's much better than a stock 2.5 and is much more eager to rev. More get up and go i like it alot more than PYF's old donk that idled nasty and was very "cammy"

Tis a wee little sleeper with a useful 60 odd bhp hike over the 320 engine
