What a nice warm day!
What do we reckon this time round then

Also had time to get these fitted

Alpina big brakes

325 disc on the left

Looks great! Always had small brakes until now.
All i've got to sort now is the correct master cylinder and the brake bias valve and we are done on the brakes

With the replacement fuel tank in i could get the rest of the leathers back in and 95% finish of the interior. IT's got that lovely leathers smell inside now

new clutch master, it was starting to leak and stain the carpet

New clutch slave also which was leaky with a new custom braided line also (Thanks for the line Si)
So we are cooking on Gas now, literally some minor welding in the Drivers side inner arch like they all need. rebuild top half of the engine and fit in and the diff to go back in and we are there!
Well a fair bit to do but well over half way! yay

Si, looking good mate, looking good.
As said they are soul destroying jobs but at the end of the day it will be right for a lot time to come yet!
What's the story behind the larger Alpina brakes? I've never heard of them never mind seen them before?
Are the discs and caliper alpina specials?

These where for the 2dr but if i'm going to the Ring this year i want to stop better with a 2.7 donk! I did a deal on these with Tomson a few months ago.
The calipers are big Merc ones! the caliper carriers are custom for the E30. As they are Girling/Lucas calipers getting one made up is going to be difficult. Shame as if they where ATE calipers things might be easier!
Discs are 296mm. And a 15bbs wheel fits over this lot too!
Dan fuel lines come all bent to shape from BMW which is great!
You can buy an alpina big brake kit from BMW still for £1200 plus vat or something stupid like that.

Not much different to some other big brake kits, all depends how it compares performance wise??Simon13 wrote:You can buy an alpina big brake kit from BMW still for £1200 plus vat or something stupid like that.

No bother with the shocks, so long as I have them by Friday
Those fuel pipes have urged me to go and buy them from BMW this week, together with new protection plates that go in front of the fuel tank

Looks like you got a fair bit of work done after I left, the interior looks excellent.
I reckon those brakes should slow you down niceley, what with all that extra weight, still the extra power from the tweaked 2.7 should even things out

I'm ANGRY!!!!
This place in Horsham has had 2 cylinder heads - one alpina, one standard and 2 alpina camshafts for 4 weeks! Now i said no hurry as i didn't want it rushed but i phone the buy today and he just answers it and puts the phone down after telling me it will all be ready this week
I f**king hate waiting for people to pull their finger out, while i'm here my local dealer are being utterly f**king useless first time ever for this and evolve are being equally as slow and vague as possible too
WTF is wrong with people! thats why you do it yourself as you can't rely on people sometimes!
I need these parts badly it's holding me right up i can't get on with anything without them

I asked them to quote me on reproducing the alpina cam but they wanted £365 if i ordered 3 so i said no to that. I'll try some other places else where.
I asked them to reproduce the alpina head work onto the standard 2.5 head off PYF for my 2 door resto as the head and cam where missing on it's engine and it's my only chance to sort it.
They've also ended up fitting 6 new exhaust valve guides to the alpina head as the previous repair done at FAB wasnt great.
At Evolve i've got a Schrick cam on order been 3 weeks so far. Theres only 2 places that sell schricks for E30's and the other place the guy just wouldn't answer his phone or reply to answerphone messeges so that only left Evolve. Imy seems to talk more sense than Sal!
BMW - i want some factory underseal the rubber style as the touring has needed some welding nothing major but i want to protect it as good as i can! Only one guy there knows where the part number is as it's not on ETK but an old bodyshop style manual they have hidden out the back
I'm going to be having a fit if something doesn't turn up/be ready by Sat. It shouldn't be this f**king hard. You seem to with cars to be always chasing people up all the time

I just cannot understand people like this! The countries on the verge of going under. It can't be like they have a queue of people outside with 350 quid in their sky rocket and a cylinder head in their hand. You'd think companies would be pulling out all the stops to ensure that people come back time and time again! F*cking w4nkers deserve to go broke and eat out of bins.
Si, do you want someone to drop in on them and ask whats going on? If I can't do it, My mate with the 16v golf might drop in and "ask a few questions".
