Theo how long have you been collecting Argos vouchers for this then? I thought you'd be looking a lot longer for any suitable m3, let alone a white one! Well done mate.

I guess you'll frag all the bits you don't need to recoup some monies, s14, leather, 16's?, LSD and box.

The plan is indeed to sell off the parts which are to be replaced by Hartge equivilents.

Not only is it a late white shell, it's a non sunroof late white shell, just like the previous car was. There can't be too many of those in the country, I think I've got very lucky.

Barry, Trevor - incredible really, only clocked it a few minutes ago!

James, It does indeed have black leather, but I'm along way off selling that. It will be the last thing to go, if at all, because I need to see what can be done with the original interior in terms of repairs. There are several cuts in the passenger doorcard, the drivers seat is in two pieces and needs a donor seat for me to use to rebuild the seat, and there is a cut in the rear seat base to top it all off  I was thinking of getting it repaired, and then reconnalised so that there is an even finished an all parts.

No progress on the badge front, definitely something that I want to look into though.

well keep me in mind for the rear seat if you decide to sell them Theo. ive got cloth m3 rear seat that i was looking to get recovered through time to put into my car but would be interested in a set that allready leather if they were to come up. keep me uptodate on the badge front as im very interested in that.

im well chuffed for you getting the new car it does look good and will be a build to watch

You're earning too much money, Hero!
The 1-piece M3 must have been the wrong side of 10 or 12bags if its in decent nic and the H36 purchase as well...... Have you just robbed a post office, or sold your mothers mother? If its neither of those, are you looking for a business partner, coz I need to get me some of whatever industry you're in now!

Yeah, it's a Highback seat frame I need, cheers for the offer though.

I'll probably come to Ace at the end of the month, rather than Guildford, you can check it out then.

Few decisions to make on the appearance of the car...

Evo 2 chin spoiler or not?
Foglights or brake ducts?
Sport evo spoiler or standard?
Repair the Higbacks, or use the current interior?

Remove evo II chin spoiler, and fir sport evo lip, throw away the fog lights and fit some ducts, sport evo rear spoiler (don't use the DTM gurney), and fix the high backs!

Hmm, I'm not 100% on the sport evo spoiler. How much is a genuine one worth? (both parts)

Brake ducts and evo 2 chin look good to me:

hi mate love the project, i'm doing an e28 m5 engine into 325i saloon project myself. That diff looks like my e28 lsd with the single slotted top mount-any chance of a pic of the E30 side mount which appears to be bolted on the side of your diff? winkeye

It's not actually the same type of diff as yours, it's the smaller sized diff that came on some of the lesser e28s hence the similar backplate. You wont fit the e28 M5 diff to an e30 without modifying the beam.

I do wonder why Hartge used this backplate and fancy hanger when they could have just stuck on an e30 backplate.

Engine is finally on the stand after I got a plate made up in 10mm steel.

Image

Sump is off, need to take it to a good tig welder to repair the damage which won't be cheap. Removal of the sump revealed the crankshaft, which is a fetching shade of blue. Are all s38 cranks like this, or has it been nitrided/some other treatment?

Image

Here's a shamless pic of the exhaust manifold in all it's glory - just a standard e28 m5 item, but really rather nice.

Image

Just trying to find a VDO oil temperature sensor for the engine, resistance values for the diff sensor where 1230 ohms cold and 195 ohms at 90ish degrees celsius.
