Hi,

I was donated this 318i touring in November, or perhaps its more accurate to say I rescued it from the jaws of the crusher.

It's a fine car and since I've bought it I've given it a basic service and had a good bit of work done on the body.

Yesterday, for the first time I had few spare hours to wash and polish her, and the results are very pleasing.

Please see below.

Next is the 325i engine conversion and then the interior refit. All in good time....

Hi All,

Thanks for the responses.

Attitudes to old cars are strange really. To us, these cars are things of beauty. To others they are just old bits of metal that have served their use and and giving trouble and cluttering up the driveway. The guy I got the car from was just about to become a father for the first time so needed something reliable. By reliable, he meant newer and in need of less TLC. He was going to sell the car to me for €400, but when the engine started rattling he gave it to me instead. It turned out there was about half a pint of oil in the engine and once it was changed and given a new filter it's pulling stronger than ever. By the time I'm finished with it it will have cost me in the region of €2000, which will include a 325i engine and an upgraded interior. It will then be worth, oh?, I don't know......€2000...but it's not the point, is it? When it's done it will be back to its former glory and something a bit different to take out for a burn, or a drift, or a track day, or just for the hell of it...

Keep it real...
