No aerial hole this time thanks mate. The one on the roof is factory, i have a receipt for the one on the rear quarter being fitted a few years back so it can go along with the duck tape covering it!

you can almost hear the mad rush of feet as people go to check their inner arches
the next to last and next to next to last pics show a crack which had formed on the section of inner sill beneath the quarter panel, it was present on both sides and im pretty sure paul is one of very few that can say theirs does not have any cracks
.
btw paul, just how did you get the panels in the car? they had to come out of the rear window

Excelent work there Mat, proper invisible repairs.
Wow, thats worse than my sunroof tray, and I thought that my one was bad!lol.
Matt you've got another one comming!!
Thats looking good now Paul, scary when you see it without any rear quarters and no rear panel, hopefully I don't need that!!
Can't wait to see the finished article!!

Excelent work there guys!
Great pictures guys. That's incredibly skilled work, more re-manufacturing rather than restoration.
Those sunroof assemblies are a concern for those of us that daren't look. I don't know whether to try and have a peep with a bright torch, or bury my head in the sand and be blissful in ignorance until the roof suddenly erupts with symmetrical rust points.
Mmmmmmm....lovely sand

Gun - How are you? Im glad you are checking in on this from time to time. I saw your for sale add for the other sport and at first thought you had bought another to replace this one! I noticed the bug in the pics also, did you sell it in the end?
rice46 - no updates no, i collect it from Matt on the 22nd. Im not sure on its current state actually. I think Matts been working more of his skill
Raj - sorry to see you selling up, any takers yet? Great car you have, so shouldnt be hard to sell.
Paul

I'm doing well thanks. Maybe you don't remember but when you came to see my Sport (your Sport) I mentioned that a friend had one the same colour and he was half way through a resto at the time. I've not had time to update the for sale post but if I had the space and the money for this car I would have it but then I would say that.bmwe30mtech wrote:Gun - How are you? Yes I decided to keep the bug. I shall miss it plus I don't want it to end up in the wrong hands. It's a special car and is in the condition it's in because it has been looked after.

Jeff, im glad you decided to keep the beetle. Good to hear all is well.
I collected my Sport from Matt today, and am VERY pleased with it! Absolute top quality work as always from Matt, the whole thing looks factory and brand new, and the paint is a very nice finish. Cheers Matt
Its still far from complete but i was able to drive it the 200 miles home (only put 25 quid of fuel in the tank and it got me home!). Luckily it didnt rain as i havent got arround the putting the sunroof assembley back in. Its away in the garage now, dripping waxoyl everywhere, ready for putting back together.
Just a few pics from Matt and me today.

Matt busy covering the car in waxoyl

Just to add it looks a bit patchy/different colours in the pics but its because some panels have thicker dust on than others
