Diameter wise, they may well fit under a 16" rim. The biggest problem is clearance between the front face of the caliper and the back of the wheel spokes.m3ben05 wrote:Were taking our group A around easter time and im going with my cecotto on the zone trip so may see you there!
Shame they wouldnt fit under 16's i need a decent set of brakes!
Here's a better shot of the brakes (taken just after I originally fitted them, but before it was lowered).

Yes they are 17" - 7.5x17"m3ben05 wrote:Thats good to know Ian, im guessing yours are 17's?
Pretty sure they do.Just looked on there site, they dont seem to do a kit for the M3

You could also try Godspeed (http://www.godspeedbrakes.co.uk/). The owner has an E30 M3 race car and I'm pretty sure he does kits for the M3 (cheaper than Mov'it).

Love your car Ian, always admired since the first time I saw it an a mag, still had the M20 then?
Your car is a definite roll model for others to follow!
I think I'm also known for picking faults, the only things I can say is, you could have shaken your passenger mate before taking the pics!!

what master cylinder are you running with those brakes?
how does the hydraulic system all mount up?
do you have any pics of where the servo used to be? what happens to the hole where the servo was?
never seen a hydraulic setup in person other than the few pics of your engine so trying to get an idea of what bits i need and how to mount it up..

The master cylinder is the 25mm one from an E32 750i.
The main part of the hydraulic servo simply bolts in place of the original vacuum servo. Same sized hole and mounting bolts etc. Here's a very early picture when I was trial fitting things.

That picture shows the standard E30 master cylinder and an E32 7 series hydraulic booster unit. I later swapped this for the E23 7 series unit as it's shorter (It's not actually shorter, but more of the cylinder is inside the car so it gives more clearance). Here's a picture that shows the difference between the E23 and E32 booster.

In the first picture above, you can also see the large fluid reservior that the system uses. You can mount this wherever you can find space really. The only other part of the system is the valve block with the pressure accumulator. I don't have any good pictures of this installed, but here's a picture I found that shows it (and the rest of the parts).

Here's a picture that shows my setup from above.

Ian.

Forget car of the month, or for that matter car of the year - this is the finest car here. Bar none. I just wish I had the mechanical ability to even attempt something similar!

Blimey ! You did well to find this old thread. It was started back in 2005
There's not really much to show on the car really. It still looks pretty much the same as in the pictures above (apart from the smoked Hellas).
You can see my stereo install and suspension rebuild in these threads:

0 - 60 is about 5.5 secs in the dry. It's been measured at 5.8 secs on wet concrete (Bruntingthorpe). My best 1/4 mile is 13.8 seconds at a little over 100 mph. That was fully loaded with interior and stereo (and a rather portly driver).Nemo wrote:Any idea of performance figures? ie 0 - 60, 1/4 mile etc
It was done by a place in Hove (near Brighton) called the Trimming Centre ( http://www.thetrimmingcentre.co.uk ). It wasn't cheap, but it was done with very good quality (Bridge of Weir - http://www.bowleather.co.uk ) leather. I think it cost around £1500, but that was quite a few years ago. A lot of the extra cost was to have the door cards done as well.blyoss wrote:Slightly of subject, but i notice you said you got the seats retrimmed. Oh my God... your car is amazing... I have nothing else to say... I'm from Romania and I was thinking of buying and restaurating an E30 but I haven't got any funds by now because I'm a student... maybe the future will be nice with me

It's an S50B32 enigne from an E36 M3 Evo (1998). Including the engine and 6 speed box, it cost around 7K to complete (back in 2002/2003)blyoss wrote:Forgive my ignorance, but which engine have you put in yours.
