It's used to help align the wheel bolts when you change the wheel.

You put the grey plastic end in one of the wheel bolt holes in the hub, and then slide the wheel over the shaft. Once the wheel is sitting on the hub, you can put the bolts in without having to jiggle it around to get them lined up. When three are in, you just pull the shaft out and put the last one in.

It also slides in to the sparkplug tube spanner to give leverage. The germans only make somthing if it can do 2 jobs at once :wink:

seems like it has more than one use

want to sell it on e-bay along with lots of other bits of mine but couldn't list it without knowing what it is obviously

And the second job for the spark plug spanner, is to undo the electric sunroof drive nut. ( see appropriate thread).
