Original standard boot spoiler is held on by a number of plastic nuts, so to fit it properly you need to drill the holes in the boot lid for the studs on the underside of the spoiler. I had a similar issue with my bootlid where some muppet who owned it previously had welded up the original holes and fitted a sh*tty fibreglas MTEC spoiler. What I did was take some measurements from a work coleague's car as to the position of the edges of the spoiler relative to the edges of the bootlid and made a paper template of the underside of the spoiler with the bolt positions clearly marked. Knowing where the edges of the spoiler should be I taped the paper template into place and marked the bolt hole positions and placed the spoiler over these marks to make sure the ends of the studs on the underside of the spoiler matched up. When I was confident that everything lined up, I drilled the holes.

If you can get to a car breakers, you could take the measurements of the hole positions from a bootlid with the spoiler removed and mark them on a paper template.

hi, unless your car is mint and in a rare colour, i'd imagine its far easier to buy a bootlid with the spoiler already on it? (assuming you are just fitting the run of the mill se/lux/iS spoiler)
