Hi all,
This is my first post though I have been hovering in the background for a while.
My 318i M40 is overheating :x ( i've not let it get to the red on the temp gauge). The top hose is very hot but the bottom of the bottom hose is ice cold. Would this be a faulty thermostat? If so how easy is it to change?

Great web site.
Cheers

dead easy to replace.

haynes manual for reference.

remove radiator & hoses

if i remember correctly its only three 10mm bolts that holds it in place.

Whatever you do, don't tighten the 3 x 10mm's too much or you'll be looking at getting a new thermostat housing ( like I did ages ago ). I think the tightning torque is 10nm ( don't quote me on that ), but the Haynes will tell you I should imagine..
