Problem: car wont start, it did yesterday then in the evening nothing....same today nothing. the oil was low. but the oil light hadnt come on. so i topped up the oil just anyway, no difference.

when it did start yesterday i could hear the fuel pump well loud, the fuel guage isnt right down into the red, but because of the design of the fuel tanks is it possible this is a fuel related problem?

the engine turns over but just doesnt want to catch, my idle control thingy is dodgy anyway, so ive unplugged that to see if that makes any difference....going to have to try syphon some fuel see if that is the problem.

any other idea's suggestions welcome.

take rear bench off...... remove acces panel on drivers side to access fuel pump

while trying to start it, get someone to smack the pump with something not too heavy, if it starts or tries to then this is ure prob

get replacement one of someone here and bobs ure uncle

bridge the fuel pump relay and see if you can hear the fuel pump, if you can try and start the car, if it fires up the problem is your fuel pump relay or wiring to it,
if you can`t hear the pump when you bridge the relay you need a new pump

well just chucked 2gallons in it... no change, convinced its the fuel pump thats buggered, when it did start yesterday the pump was really noisy, so that makes me think it was on its last legs...luckily for me i have no interior so i can get to those access points nice and fast haha. this would be much less annoying if i had money. just looked at price of fuelpump 8O :( ...i hope its not that.

cheers for the advice guys

The pump will make a lot of noise when something is clogged, so could also be a faulty fuel pressure regulator or that thing which handles the return of fuel to the tank, under the rear of the car.
