will a engine start without the oil switch wired in? just been trying to get ric325i new 325 started but as yet haven't changed the switch to the new one(pre facelift car, facelift wiring).

Should do.....as the switch only lights up the lamp in the dash cluster, I take it this is on an e30??

yeah on a e30 mate, i thought the sensor tell the ecu thats there pressure before it start the engine.

maybe, but i don't know.

All the oil pressure switch does is control the light on the cluster. The ECU neither knows nor cares whether the switch is connected or not.
