Howdy didly.

After curing all my faults this weekend ie oil leaks, brakes etc i thought ah nice afternoon i will take my mtb up to the lakes and have a blast. Sadly i couldnt do this as i couldnt fit my bike in the boot because i could not get the bastardin seats to fold flat.

Any ideas on how to get them down? Its a bit of a stupid question but i cannot find any levers to pull or press to release them. I know they do come doen becuause they were banging around loose when i bought it so i slammed them shut!

Any help would be great :o:

No levers to push or pull! Just lift up the seat bases, and the little tabs on top of the seat backs should pop up, indicating that the catch on the side has released. When you put the seat packs up again, they should catch easily, and the tabs should go down.
It's not unknown for the extensions on the release levers that the seat bases push on to have broken off, in which case you'll have to push the inner parts of the levers manually.
The only other fault I've ever had with these mechanisms has been cured by turning the eccentric pins behind the side bolsters which the seats latch on to.

If everything is working properly, lift up the seat bases (Remove any headrests first) you should then see a metal lever that springs up automatically releasing the seat backs. If the seat backs don't release try giving them a wiggle...

If the above doesn't work then you will need to investigate what is up with the levers under the seat base.

Hello,

Usually owners lift up the seat base from where it meets the back (the lever is under the base and ia relaesed when the base is lifted), then just pull the seat back down.

i hope this helps

The seat bases fold up against the back of the front seats to protect them, then the seat backs fold down with the holes on the tabs engaging with pins on the underside of the seat bases, locking everything in place, and providing an almost flat load area. If a longer load space is required, then the seat bases can be removed completely by pushing in two spring loaded pins.
