Dipped Beam Bulb Replacement

To replace the dipped beam bulb does the grille have to come off?

I know it sounds stupid (or maybe it's because it's dark) but I can't actually see how the light comes out.

If only it was as easy as replacing the sidelights

Just open the bonnet and tak ethe back off the lights to change the bulb. They're behind a cover.

JUST take them off eh Adam I nearly had to use a penumatic drill on mine!

Seriously, there's this thing you have to unscrew, kind of a cylindrical sleeve, and a lot of them behave as if welded. I damaged my headlight gettign this off. But you haven't got a lot of choice...

Smear the mating surfacesof the plastic covers over the back of the bulbs with plenty of silicon grease when you put them back on. You'll appreciate it the next time you want to remove them.

Yeah good advice there, people neglect their headlights and the backs sieze on and the adjusters rust up or break.

I got fed up with mine and treated the car to a brand new set of smoked hellas. I greased up the adjusters and the mating surfaces of the light backs so they should be fine for a few years to come.
