Did bmw make tech2 motorsports on a h reg, been offered what has been described as a tech2 with motorsport on the log book but was pretty sure I read somewhere that they did not make them on a h reg. Also some one told me that years ago you could add motorsport on the log book under detail changes. It is going for a sensible price and only needs two headlights and an interior re-trim so even if it is not a motorsport might still be worth investing in.Just want to be sure before I haggle the price down over its originality.
Any info apreciated.
Chris.
Was tech2 motorsports built on a h reg.

Agreed take the VIN to BMW who can tell you the original spec.
However even if it wasn't actually built 'on' a H reg ie 1990-1991, it may not have been registered until post september 1990 and have been manufactured the year before and not sold from new until the following registration was released, so could have been built anytime, the registration refers to when it was registered for use on the public highway from new,
IIRC isn't there an M reg or K reg e30 m3 somewhere, which was stored and not road registered for years after the sale?

LSD, Black headlining, Mtec steering wheel / gearknob (I believe the latter was one peice with the gaitor), Sports seats.... etc. etc. However, beware lots of copies about even down to the headlining.
B7's Motto. "If it's French, BURN IT!!!!!!"
Aparently this is all on there, would the bbs wheels have painted centres or was this just for the motorsport convertibles? Looks like I am now going to go for it even it is not original so if no one beats me to it and I can haggle him down enough I should be the new owner.B7 wrote:LSD, Black headlining, Mtec steering wheel / gearknob (I believe the latter was one peice with the gaitor), Sports seats.... etc. etc. However, beware lots of copies about even down to the headlining.
There is no such thing as a motorsport saloon, they made 2dr 'sports' and 'motorsport' convertibles.
