Having just posted a thread about how great standard E30 discs/drums are, I got my beer goggles on watching Ebay and bought a complete set of rear arms with discs, bearings etc. The seller said it would be a straight swap on to my 320i, driveshafts will fit, brake hoses, handbrake cables will all fit. Is he correct? Apparently the set up came off a 318is. Any advice very gratefully received.

very easy mate, just literally unbolt the old arms, disconnect the flexi hose from the copper hose, you'lll see where, its obvious, then take the arms off and put the other ones on,reconnect hoses and bleed, just remember that the handbrake cables are different,so the drums have to be stripped to detach it,or like me,just disc cut through the cable,as itll be replaced anyway, replacing the handbrake cables are pigs, the slide into a fixed metal tube under the car and go insid to the handbrake, but they get so corroded its an ass to get them out, plenty of wd40 a good pair of mole grips and lots of twisting needed! mind your head! ive probably left loads out,but make sure the night before you undo the arms you give them a good coat in wd40,the petrol tank hose has to come off one side to slide one of the bolts out,i got one of my spanners and cut it very short to be able to get into the tight spots,as for droppingthe whole subframe (im sure aomeone will tell you this!) dont, its a nightmare, ive never had itgo easy once! and it aint cheap for new bushes either!! hope this helps

Drop me a PM with your email address and I'll send you my disc conversion guide if 329iturbo hasn't already
The complete trailing arm setup must be swapped with your existing drum type arms, the hydraulics and mounting points all mate up in exactly the same way as the drums.
You will need disc specific handbrake cables as they are not interchangeable but they fit to the car in he same way as the drum cables.
The handbrake can be a bit of a tw@t to adjust correctly but persevere and you'll get it right.
A well worthwhile upgrade
Cheers,
Iain T
