I need to replace the drivers side front wing due to a bit of rot forming at the bottom behind the front wheel.

Does anyone know whether this is a dead simple job or harder than it would seem?

The fixing points at the top are obvious - just inside the bonnet - but what are the other fixing points. I guess I should check these are not rusted up. And how does the wing connect to the front lower lip?

How time consuming is the job? How much will my bmw specialist charge me? Any help will be great.

doesn't take long to remove or re-install, just a bit of time getting the wing aligned and the gaps correct.

Bolts at the top of the wing (you may have to remove some silicone to get to them) and a bolt (s) at the bottom by the sill area.

You'll have to remove the wheel arc liner (if fitted) then you'll be able to access everything a little better, including the removal of the indicator.

took me no more than 15mins to remove the e30 wing on an old 316.

Dont forget the hex bolt beside you headlight, the mounting bolt behind your bumper, and the two 8mm at the back of the wing on the inside near the door pillar, just replaced three, two on mine and one on the dads, real easy.
Regards Mark.

Thanks very much guys. I thought I'd better check because I could see the worst case scenario of driving 10 miles to my mechanic with half a car.

So I won't need any more specific tools than standard tool bag stuff?
