Question is in the subject really. What exactly do i need.

afaik I'd say the following

disks
calipers
new pads (good ones)
new hoses (extra safety)
new brake fluid
bleed kit thing

Are the disks easy to remove? What about the hoses? Do I have to depressurise the system?

are there any other useful things I can do at the same time as this, either brake related or otherwise.

I know I've asked this before but as I'm changing the hoses anyway should I bother with SS ones?

Thanks guys. I think I'm gonna try and do this today.... hope it works as I need the car tomorrow :)

I decided to pass on doing it today as I discovered there's some building that sells beer of all things... wow :)

Still anybody got any comment or advice, would be appreciated.

Cheers

Overfill the brake fluid resevoir, put a piece of cling film across the top, and screw on the cap from the clutch resevoir. This should minimize brake fluid loss.
Discs are only held on by a single hex headed locating screw, once the caliper brackets are removed.
You probably won't even need to bleed the brakes as such. Just remove the cling film and open the bleed nipples after you finish, and they will bleed by gravity.
Would be nice to fit the rear discs as well to maintain brake balance, but a much bigger job.
PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL before you move the car after you finish, to bring the pads into contact with the discs. You wouldn't be the first person to find the brakes don't work the first time you need them.

325i are vented

nope you need the calipers of the car with the vented discs because the vented discs are thicker and won't fit in the calipers of the non vented ones

A 325i with solid discs? Holy cow! Do you have the 325i discs on the back?

Thats on a par with what my E30 2.8 will be until I do the brakes/suspension (Standard 320i brakes) Now that will be scary!

Thanks. I feel I should change the fluid anyway, just as a matter of course really... unless there's good reason not to?

me too. after changing pads. fortunately I was only creeping it forwards :)

about changing to rear disks. it's far too much for me to do before I have to get the 325i removed but would it be worth taking the trailing arms and other bits off to use them in the future? Really, I'm asking can I take the trailing arms of with a smallish toolkit, and a pair of axle stands?
