It appears the switch has corroded away internally and it is dripping out of the contact when the engine is running. This means I gotta do an oil change but how many litres does the E30 325i hold and what stuff do I need (oil wise)?

Don't need to change the oil to change the switch, just be quick! but if you are changing it I would recommend a genuine filter and a good quality oil.
Use a genuine switch as well!

I think it holds about 5 Ltrs *CHECK THIS FIRST!!!*

Done seems alright with about 4.5litres . The switch is from G&S and was exactly the same make and model number as the original BMW one.
