Hello all

i have a E30 Cab which i recenlty changed the shocks as i felt it was driving like a barge round corners..the car has standard Bilstien (black) shocks. ( i know i wish id gone more D12 or yello bilstiens but hey ho..)

I recently drove a mates cab which felt so much better than mine round corners - he said his shocks hadnt been changed but he put some Coupe Sport springs in - gave a nice drop and very comfy ride too...

mine and his bushes etc are all fine so no issues with those bits -

the change in springs appears to have worked for him so i would like to put new springs in mine - anybody recommend good springs for a Cab then? i dont want a major drop and i dont want that silly lowered car jumping down the road look when im driving - about 40mm max as i want the comfort but it must defo be a set that give some confidence when going round corners....recommendations please...

I also have a cab, there is a guy on ebay sells boge/sachs springs £69 + p&p.

These will drop 20mm [4cyl] or 25mm [6cyl] (A cabby sits lower anyway because of the extra weight) and will NOT effect suspension dynamics but gives a much firmer ride.

These are the same springs a main dealer would supply!

i want to lower mine, and i will only use the motorsport springs as they will drop it by 15-20mm, i dont wanna go more than that

I bought the Avo 10-007 set for mine. I've had them for at least 3 years but only done roughly 10k miles.

http://www.avouk.com/pm/89 (or search 'BMW' in the pull-down)

On original shocks (73k miles) the turn-in is improved, without the back-end breaking-away any sooner. The spec suggests an all round drop of only 25mm, but it is actually quite a bit more at the front, and maybe slightly less at the back.

Proper Hartge suspension also favours a nose-down result, so who am I to complain?

shut it!

I'm going for a weekend in January, staying in Les Carroz just below Flaine.

(Have you seen the snowfall in Chamonix already? Most snow in November for 55 years!)

And we'll probably go for a week later in the season, but we might not - my youngest son is just the wrong age to enjoy it - here is my oldest son (and me!) in spring 2006 when he was 3 3/4; we went in spring 2007 as well for a week; he's going to be a very good skier :D
