when i had my 6 branch fitted at the garage, they said they had to remove the washer expansion tank and remove the oil filter to get the room to fit it, but since putting them back on the coolant and oil light on the check display stays on constantly.

can anyone give me some help as to what might be the problem and how i can fix it, as the garage said they dont know, they said they have checked levels and they are ok?

Washer light: The sensor in the bottle can turn so that the float isn't upright, and so doesn't work. Look in the bottle, and make sure it's going up and down, not sideways.
Oil light: They may have tilted the car when fitting the manifold, dropping the oil level where the sensor is, and the float may have jammed in the gunge that forms inside the unit. Alternatively, they may have lost some oil taking the filter off, and the level may just be low!
If the sensor is gunged, take it out and soak it in a baked bean can full of petrol - several times.

Thanks for that brian, correct on both counts... though with the oil the garage indeed had lost oil, even though they said they had checked it,,, took 1.5 litres before light went off

o22ie - a very amateur job i'd say
a lot of trial and error mechanics would not make those mistakes
Don't you wish there were a knob on the TV to turn up the intelligence? There's one marked 'Brightness', but it doesn't work.
