Hi newbie here - I've searched the site and can't find any hints on how to replace the glass on my E30 (1986) wing mirror. Read a Haynes manual which says to insert screw driver into the base of the mirror housing and turn clockwise, Have tried but with no success. It's an electric mirror if that helps. I've got the replacement and on the back is a white plastic frame that swivels. Any help much appreciated.
Thanks

under your wing mirror is a small hole, use a thin screw driver, insert into the hole and turn clockwise you should feel the clip turn which will then release the mirror, put the new mirror in and turn the clip anti clock wise to hold it in position. i changed mine a few weeks ago, its a little bit of a fiddle but should be easily done

Can you see a sort of plastic toothed cog when your mirror glass isnt in the mirror housing?.
If so you need to insert glass into housing, insert a small screwdriver into a small slot that should be visible
from underneath the mirror housing and move the cog with the screwdriver . This should lock the mirror glass in place. HTH.

yes me tooHi make sure it is locked in place as it WILL fall out.(got the teeshirt)
gave up with these style, once they get changed they are worn and never as tight
got one from an auto factors with a sticky back, cleaned the circular bit the mirror fastens to and pivots on. squeeze hard - stays on long time
Don't you wish there were a knob on the TV to turn up the intelligence? There's one marked 'Brightness', but it doesn't work.
