I have 1991 E30 M3 Convertible and I need to replace the exhaust systems. Can anyone tell me where I find out some further info as there doesn't seem to be much listed. Is it a 2 or 3 piece system? with or without a cat? The rear box section is fine so I believe I only need it from after the down pipes. Also is it the same exhaust system as fitted to the E30 M3 hard tops? or did they make a special system for the convertibles?

Any info would greatly appreciated

Just had a quick look on the ETK and it seems that the M3 and M3 Cab both have the same 2 piece exhaust system.
It only varies between early and late M3s. Yours would be a late model.

I dont know much about the M3, but I would guess that it does not have a Cat.

There isn't anywhere that supplies original M3 exhausts, so unless your lucky to find a 2nd hand good one for sale, you may have to go aftermarket, preffered brands for the M3 seem to be Milltek and supersprint, none seem to be any better than the standard system though, and a new one costs about Ԛ£1200 from the dealer.

If your car came from Germany, and is still on the original exhaust, then it should have a cat fitted, but there's no need to replace, unless your car was registered after August 1992.
