I own a 1990 318is with tired suspension. I have just sold my old car and am in a hurry to buy some suspension upgrades before I waste the money on something else!

Been looking at either buying shocks and springs separately or one of the bigger manufacturers kits.

I dont mind a firm ride if it gives the best handling, but I live in Coventry, home to some of englands worst road surfaces and I know from mates cars that you need some compliance to keep traction!

The shocks that look the best are Bilstein Sprint (shortened sports) B8. These have the part numbers, P36-0335 fro front, and B36-2027 for the rear. I dont know which spring wouls be best for these but was thinking Apex M3 springs, H&R Sport or Eibach.

Otherwise on the damper front are Gaz Shocks. They seem to talk the talk and be very good value for money. The front inserts are 60 quid and are adjustable on the car. Same with the rear, adjustable and cheap.

The suspension kits I have been looking at are H&R Cup and Bilstein Sprintline.

My budget should really stay around the 400 - 450 as a Max.

What do you guys think about these set ups? Which would be best?

Many thanks for your help..

H&R sports + bilstein sports will be more than Ԛ£450. But i would like to say its the top stuff before you get to high end kit.

Right, I've decided to order the poly offset front bushes and H&R sport springs from www.motorsportworld.co.uk.

A friend has just donated some yellow but non adjustable Koni rear shocks taken off his M3 when he had a full set of sprints fitted. I'm gonna use them for now and see whats they're like with the H&R springs.

I'm still in two minds about the front dampers. The bilstein sprint dampers are know for quality and performance. They are a bit expensive compared to others. Where's the best placed and price for these?

The other inserts I've been looking at are the Gaz adjustable available through rally design. They are 36 way adjustable, are rebuildable, zinc galvanised and are only 64 quid plus vat each..Look really good value for money. almost half the price.

Thanks for the help guys..
