hello, here we go first the head gasket went on my 325i cab so i got a rebuilt head and put a cat cam in at the same time.
as i was aware the car would run lumpy due to cam. but the car doesent run properly its fast sometimes then really slow other times. ive taken the car to ant from a teck, he said i need to remove the catlick converter and upgrade the chip as the engine needs more air. however sal from evolve who i bought the cam from said there should not be any reason to remove the catlick converter. as if should effect the cam performance.
at this point im lost and confussed so i took the car to bexlyheath motor works. so the guy drove the car and said its fine. but i know it aint so he said leave it with him but they charge £65 plus vat an hour. he wanted me to leave it there for a whole week. yeh right.
it went to to my local garage the other day for the tappets to be re adjusted.
plus the guy adjusted the afm the car runs more smothly less power then be4 it went in and at idle it wants to cut of so i have to rev hard. when in low revs the car hardly moves like its gona cut off then when i put the accelerater down hard it stutteres then shots off.
all i want is some1 who nows there way around the engine and can test all the parts and see why it runs the way it does or is there any faulty parts witch needs changing im based in croydon so if u know any1 around here please pm me
thanks sorry for my life storey above.
engine help do u know any1 in croydon or surrounding area

remove the cat and 02 sensor Reaz
the 02 is telling the ECU to closed loop the fuelling, not an ideal condition for a cam with lots of lift, the idle mix will be too weak and the cat will be strangling the engine to some extent, I imagine the HC readings are terrible ?
I stand by what I said ffrom the outset, you have modified the car beyond the OE spec so the OE figures are now not suitable, and any change you attempt to make will be negated as long as the 02 setup remains in the loop
Happy to have a more in depth look, but I will pull the 02 and cat as a matter of course.
you will find peoples opinions differ on these matters, no-one is right or wrong, just a different approach to the issue @ hand.
