My recent 318iS purchase seems to have a catalytic converter. I don't know if its OK or not, but if not I'm thinking of getting it removed and putting in a section of piping.
Has anyone done this? Can it be done, or will it mess up the running of the car and its emissions?
How can you tell if the catalytic convertor is OK?
Thanks,
Kevin.
Can you de-cat a 318iS?

What do you do with the oxygen sensor? Is this removed also?

My 318is when i bought it had a cat on it and was an original bmw system. What made it funny was the car came from the factory with a normal system! I don't think E30 cars came with a lamda(?!) sensor anyway
I had it cut out and pipe welded in and it made mine a bit more free reving (not that they need help!) and it passed an Mot test fine with just the backbox. It wasn't any more noisy either
