Remove the clear plastic cover and cluster gauge from e30.

It's glued on, but I've removed a few by carefully levering around the edge. I fit the alarm/immobiliser LED in there.

Its as Brian says, once you have removed the cluster (6 screws in total I think, inclusing the trim screws)
You will need to remove the plastic to fit that in, which is as said above glue on- its a PITA or really easy, I've had a few just pop off, others that have been a mare!

You need to remove:
Underdash panel (3 x plastic twist screws)
'fillet' beneath cluster (2 x knurled bolts behind)
4 x small phillips screws at lower edge of instrument cluster shroud and 2 x at top
Then 2 x phillips screws holding cluster into top of binnacle hole
Much easier with the steering wheel off, btw.

hi this is usually a pain but if you use glue or any type of solvent dont touch anything inside the cluster cos fingerprints turn to white and are very hard to remove, good luck.
