Depends what offset the wheels come in... If they're a typical fwd offset (35ish), then yep you'll need spacers... If you can get them nearer to ET20 then you won't. Rim width & tyre size are also very important obviously!

Bigger lump eh? Does this mean bigger than a 2.5? Or have you put a 2.5 into a smaller-engined E30?

I'll look out for it, a black M-Tec I can't be hard to spot :)

If you see a short dude in a red 316i with dodgy rear lights frantically flashing/beeping/waving then you know it's me! :D

Back on topic, good luck with getting the wheels sorted out...

Exactly. You might even find ET35 offset wheels would clear the brakes, but they'd look rubbish as they'd sit far too far into the arches...

I've got standard 15" BBS (ET24) & had some TSWs that were ET20...
Might get some MIMs that are even lower offset at some point... think they're ET13, but you'd run into issues with rubbing on the outer arches if you went much below that. Plus you want to use as small spacers as possible! Depending on width / tyre size, I'd aim for about 25 if I were you (ie 10mm spacers on an ET35 wheel)

14" bottletops are a higher offset (might even be ET35), but they're narrower too - they sit further into the arches but aren't gonna rub on the inners due to the width... 's a shame actually - I think bottletops would look great in the same dimensions as 15" BBS!

A 3.5 lump...."should be fun" is one way of putting it :D

If the 2.5's still in there I'm guessing it's still off the road, not much chance of me seeing it driving about then! :hammer:

If you're planning on replacing the 2.5 with a 3.5 and then swapping a 1.8 for the 2.5 that's 2 conversions!

Surely it'd be easier to leave the 2.5 in and find a 1.8 to put the 535i lump in? You could transfer the bodykit and any goodies like leather interior etc. that you might have more easily than the engine....just a thought 8O

My family's had my car for 10 years this October, I was very very lucky in that my dad had a decent no claims bonus on it so I was able to insure it for a reasonable price as my first car :)

To add a sig pic like mine....

First you need to make sure the pic isn't too big, you'll see what kinda size to go for by mine and others' sig pics on the forum.

Then go to something like http://www.imageshack.us and follow the instructions to upload the pic.

If you use Imageshack copy the "Direct link to image", then go to the main ("Home") page of E30zone and click "Private messages" in the menu along the right hand side.

There'll then be a bar which says "Forum FAQ", "Search" etc.

Click "Profile" in this bar and go down to the about the middle of the page and there'll be a section which says "Signature".

Paste your link in the box next to that, put Image after (e.g. Image but without the space after the address),hit the "Submit" button and you're done :thumb:

You can't link a sig pic from your C drive if that's what you mean, you have to upload it to ImageShack first.

When you've finished the big six you need to put some pics up! :)
