Hey i'm fairly new to the zone just bought my first E30 325 sport about a mounth ago it has had a lot of engine work done on it and is in desperate need of a remap I was going to take it to Fritz Bits in somerset because they did the head work and the manifold so they know the car but what I want to know is dose it matter where I take it or can any one with half a clue remap it. This is a small list of work caried out on the engine:-
Head ported, gas flowed and polished
Bigger throtle body
High lift cam
custom six branch ss manifold
E36 mass air flow conversion

any help would be greatly appriciated and i'm in Brighton if that makes any difference

Anyone with a clue on how to remap could give it a go.

Why not do a bit of bottom end work before a remap for more power? 2.8 or 2.7 conversion with high comp pistons.

Do you mean bore it out a bit? I had thought about that but just don't have the funds to do anything else to it at the moment just need to get it running smoothly as it only just idles until its warm, do you thing that I will be lacking torque then? is there anything i can do about it with out boring out the block. Also a completely unrelated question how do you get and avatar on, and the picture under you post?

I mean stroking it. You can get a 2.8 crank from an E36 328i and make a spacer and the fit it in with M20B20 conrods as they're shorter.

You can't bore out a M20B25 block by any useful amount. The bores are pretty close together as standard!

to me 2mm is pretty useful (and its safe for a NA m20 as its common when going to custom pistons) as it gives 120cc and potential to unshroud the valves some in conjunction with a bit of headwork.

For some holiday reading I bought a copy of BMW car and Total BMW , one of the stories in BMW Car was about a chap in the states who had grafted an M20 in to a 2002, it stated the capacity was 3.2 litres and he was using the crank from an E36 M3, it didn`t go in to much detail about this but I always thought the biggest an M20 could go to was 2.8, have BMW Car maybe got it wrong, it does also say it`s now knocking out 300 bhp.

http://www.bmwcarmagazine.com/latest-issue.htm

It`s under little red rocket sled, has anyone else read it, not a link to the story i`m afraid.
