Need technical Q/A then you're in the right place

320i lowered with Spax 40 mm gas shocks & springs. Got M3 eccentric control arm bushes for front - do I need the adjustable trailing arm bushes? - mine are ok, but do not look like they have been changed. will I benefit from eccentric bushes, and if so, what position do I need to install them to change toe angle to suit my new sus. set up? Bentley do good graph to advise how much change different installation positions give, so I just need a techie to tell me how much I need (if I need them!)

i would advise them. i'm going -35mm soon on the rear, and will fit these at the same time.
Anything more than 20mm drop with standard trailing bushes will induce too much negative camber / \ ! This will munch tyres too, plus the car will not handle to it's full potential

They are Ԛ£25.10 from the dealer too, can't remember if this is for both sides.

Sorry if none of this helps!

Lots of negative camber = tyres last about 2000 miles...

Bah, do PowerFlex not do an eccentric set for the rear arms?!

Hmm, ok confused now, you can order a 'Rear Kit Eccentric' but the bushes themselves are not listed...

Anyone shed any light?

Rear Bushes are Ԛ£18.95 each on powerflex.co.uk so I imagine the dealers will be Ԛ£25 each... and you need 4 of them. Ouch!

How do you stop the bush from rotating in the mount once you have it set? Or do you just welly up the nuts?

The bushes from the dealer are Ԛ£25 per set (for two bushes, that will fit one arm).

You use soap to put them on and then you tighten the bolts when the car is fully loaded on the ground, this should stop them from rotating.

Not sure about the polly ones.

I recently had adjustable polyurethane trailing arm bushes fitted to my 323i. Mine isn't super low though (I think about 25mm lower than stock) so it looks like it has about the same camber now as it did before. I let the guy at the place that fitted them set it up how he thought, he knows what he is doing and that I wanted it for a bit of racing and track days. My tyres seem to be wearing ok (before and after) but like was said with only 25mm it probably wasn't a problem. I haven't really noticed any difference at the back, the car has a little bit less understeer but I think that is due to the front camber and castor plates I had fitted at the same time.

Thanks for comments, guys - I will be fitting the eccentrics some time soon - still don't know how to set them up, though - Bentley manual (section 6.3, figure 6-18) shows graph to tell you how much toe change you get depending on which position you fit the ecc. bushes, anything from -1.0mm to +1.0mm - my question still is does anyone know what I should set them up for 40mm lowered springs/shocks - I am guessing that I need to bring the arm in , so pushing the wheel out and correcting the lean-in on the wheel caused by lowering it (wow, what a load of gibberish!!)
SOMEONE out there must know what I mean??!!
