On my new E30 purchase, there is rust along the inner front wing above the chassis rail and the panel that joins with this in front of the ineer wheelarch (underneath the front RHS headlights) has rusted very badly and requires replacement.
I think there must have been some repair work carried out in this area a long time ago and the rust has got the better of it.
Is it a big job to weld in some fresh metal in this area? Has anyone ever got any repair work done on their E30s in this area of the engine bay?
Thanks,
Kevin.

Rust in the flat panels under the headlamps is fairly common.
Easy enogh to repair, if you're handy with a MIG and a pair of tinsnips.
Front panel. wings, bumper, headlamps etc., all come off easily enough if required for access, or to see the full extent of the rust.

Thanks Brian,
I took a risk on buying this car that these repairs might prove very expensive. With regard to the rust on the inner wheelarch just above the chassis rail, would it be a similar procedure, i.e. cut out the bad metal and weld in a new section?
