hi folks. Have just fitted rear mirror with maplights - lovely to have some light up front to read map to find out where I took wrong turn, etc.
My question - the mirror vibrates a lot around 80mph - I have tried tightening up the damper screw, doesn't seem to make much difference - should it be as tight as possible against the screen, or what? (yes, it does have the rubber button on the end against the screen)
Any advice gratefully received.

When I fitted one onto my touring, I tightened the nut right up, but after a while it seems to start vibrating again.

Maybe it's supposed to be not really tight, so there is a bit of leway to absorb the shocks?

All I know is the one in my sport doesn't do it... :)

treeman, does the screw have a tip to it in rubber. otherwise itll be bouncing off the windscreen, and did u clip it in propper, and re-insert the little rubber manchette, that fits into the head lining?

Yo, did all that - mirror was a b*gger to get in to the mounting, but def. in properly. Adjuster/damper has def. got rubber t*t on end. wots a manchette? (if you mean the sheet rubber floppy cover, yes, that went back ok.)

slacken the screww off a bit then, and take it for a burn

if its still wobling likely the spring pegs are slipping a bit

it could also be as simple as out of balence wheels. This happened on mine before when i had to dodgey rims on the front
