Anyone done this? I have all the parts but not 100% sur eon how to do it!

Are there any tutorials around? Could only find front and rear brakes, no mention of the handbrake shoes.

thanks

very straight forward not a lot different from changing normal drum brakes....but you will need to remove the calipers completely...then the centre nut...remove the disc from the shaft(a good time to grease the wheel bearings)and the shoes are as i said same as a normal drum set up
(you may need to back of the handbrake adjuster to get the disc off)this is done through a hole in the disc or through where the wheel studs go) when you refit it you will need to re adjust the adjusters again to get the correct travel on your handbrake .......if it is too tight to adjust losen the cables (at the handbrake, under the centre console) and refit the disc torque the nut (you may need to replace the nut if it is mangled)replace caliper etc
Image design cab and now 325 touring

did this last week too :D

gazza has it though,

u need to unbolt the caliper from the arm , then hang it up to something so u dont stress the hose

undo the little disk holding bolt, in between the wheel nut holes

undo the handbrake, so get the car on stands both sides befor u start this all first really

wiggle the disk off the hub, if it wont budge then peek insde the disc hub from the top, u should see a Ԛ´bulletԚ´ type thing with a little knurled wheel, thats the adjuster that gazza was sayin

wind it in to slacken the shoes, now the disc should slip off

the shoes themselves are conneted to the brake backing plate via 2 spring loaded pegs, one for each shoe. they need to come off

then remove the spring from the top and remove the shoes

the new ones need a light sanding before u put em in, the bolts with the springs shouldd all be in the handbrake kit u got with the shoes

shoes have the narrow nip at the bottom and the wider nip at the top,
if u have pegged the shoes in with the spring pegs, then clip the tension spring (the one with the slight kink to it) on the bottom holes, the kink needs to point downwards to clear the hub

check propperly that u have located the shoes into the cable `rachetԚ´ as it should be

then position the shoes so they look paralell, fix the `bulletԚ´ back into position, and mabey give it 1 wind out.

then strap the last tension spring on the top holes, give it a smothering (light) of coppergrease and put the disk back on

then bolt it all back together and :D

mabey change the brakepads too while uԚ´re there

Johnono's got that just about right. Only thing to add, is, when you have it all stripped down, adjust the handbrake cables, with the handbrake fully down, so that the mechanism in the brakes is fully retracted and there is no slack in the cables. This is the correct adjustment for the cables. Once adjusted, don't touch them ever again. All adjustmenrt for wear is done with the star wheel adjuster at the top. Practice adjusting this through one of the wheel bolt holes before you put the drum/disc back on.
Don't know what gazza's talking about, removing nuts from shafts and wheelbearings.
