It was doing a similar situation last week but i ddnt take much notice, as it had stopped. When i switch the car off and then on they stop for a minute or 2 but they go back on?
Can anyone shed any light on this subject?

Driving home form work 2day in my 320ic and my wipers just went on for no reason. First i thought that i must of hit the stalk by accident, then after a while they stopped. Then a few seconds later they went on again and i couldnt turn them off? Through out the whole journey home i had the wipers on .... felt like a right muppet. Soon as i got home i checked the fue box any water to be present has it was rainning earlier during the day, but nothing suspicious there???

Others have posted on this before... it's sometimes a wiring problem with the connector to the wiper motor or a clean up of the motor is required... see the tech tip bit of the site for instructions.
The design is poor in that the wiper motor gets alot of weather on it from being under the grill in the bulkhead and these spurious reports are quite common.
