its pretty straight forward, just get hold of some manual mechs (the early E30's had different mechs and fittings to the facelift models).
then just unplug the leccy motor and remove, the manual mech fits in the same way.
you might need to get hold of some doorcards or just make a winder hole (there may be a marking on the back of the doorcard indicating where to make the hole).
give me a shout if you need manual winders as im just about to do the opposite..got the loom, switches, motors and mechs..just need the time now ..need some door cards w/out holes tho, didnt think about that
I bet you can save quite a bit of weight by doing this.
Here in the states all the door cards i have seen have a round plug where the handle should go. Which is kind of funny as i have never seen a US e30 with winder windows. I would be interested to find out how much weight you end up saving.
here it is part number 8 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do ... g=51&fg=50

Cheers guys, im going to scout my local scrappy an try to find an e30 with winders, my doorcards already have the provision for winders in the form of a small round blanking plug, which saves a bit of hassle
Not sure wether it would save much wieght, i guess maybe a bit from ditching the motor? Ill find out....
