Hi peps just finished installing my alarm and when you press lock it opens and vise versa. I've wired it for a negative pulse, am I correct in doing so?? Would it just be a case of swapping the 2 wires around, I need to sort it tonight as it's got an auto arming mode and keeps unlocking it  thinking that it's been left open!!

If it locks when it should unlock, and vice versa, then swapping the wires sounds about right.

:woohoo: :woohoo: Swapped wires round and it worked, cheers for the advise earlier brian :thumb: got the remote start working aswell ended up swapping one of the relays from pin 4 to pin 2 on the C200 plug. Quite impressed with the alarm considering I paid about Ԛ£45 on ebay for it, not quite upto the likes of Clifford/Toad etc but it'll stop my car getting nicked and I can warm my car up before I get in  just hope it lasts!!

Any safety interlock on that remote start, in case you leave it in gear?
Could be a bit embarrasing when you come out to your nice warm car, and find it embedded in a brick wall across the road.

Hey mate I've been considering an alarm and looked at a few on Evil Bay.
Which one did you get ? and is there any failsafe on the remote start?
Cheers

The alarm is made by a company called Giordon and it's the 686 remote start model. The car will only start if the handbrake is fully engaged so if it had been left in gear it should stall, I've only been driving a year so haven't developed a habbit of leaving it in gear (although my missus has but she aint insured on my car ) This alarm is their older style with a standard 4 button key fob, the newer has one of those funny pager style fobs which isn't my cuppa tea.

Features and functions:
1 Keyless entry
2 Reminder of arming
3 Arm/disarm,Silent arm/disarm, automatic re-arm (re-lock doors)
4 Reminder of closing door
5 Siren pause
6 Intelligent identification of two trigger stages
7 Auto central locking
8 Emergency siren
9 Panic/car locator
10 Hijacking alert with sound and light
11 Immobillser feature (starter disable)
12 Emergency override
13 Automatic circumstance identification
14 Hopping/fixed code
Optional features and functions:
*15 Remote trunk release
*16 Remote engine start
*17 Turbo cooling timer
*18 Pre-engage engine starter
*19 Domelight delay
*20 Code learning

Not bad as it cost less than it would have just to have remote central locking  The range of the fob is pretty good, have started my car from the end of my back garden and in my living room (walls don't restrict it at all)

Just looked on ebay for ya and found the same alarm from the same person I bought mine, it arrived quickly. The instructions will make you smile as the translation to english is a little muddled. One place that has useful tips for installing this alarm is www.the12volt.com it seems to be quite popular with people not wanting to pay out Ԛ£100's

I'll make a note of all the wiring so if anyone does buy it it'll be easier to wire into your E30 :thumb:

I was quite suprised as I didn't get hit with any import tax, IIRC the value written on the parcel was in $ and it has to be a certain amount before they can charge. I'll do a wiring diagram/breakdown for you widge at the weekend :thumb:

Widge I had problems contacting the company but it did turn up within two weeks, the seller is reputable and I'm very confident that you'll receive it soon. Tonight I'll do the write up for wiring it in for you, didn't get a chance last weekend with it being bank holiday and the missus wanting to go away.

I put a complaint in to Pay Pal because I looked at his feed back and there were a lot of negative ones saying people had never recieved their goods from him and also becaust I emailed him 3/4 times with no reply. He replied to the complaint (why didn't he just reply to the email???) giving a tracking number and it seems the parcel left Hong Kong on 30th April. Oh well I'll just have to wait.

Some hint's or a key to which wires to use in the E30 would be great as wireing is not my forte so I would.nt have a clue how to make it lock and unlock the car for instance. I'll really appreciate it Cheers CharlE30
