Depends on what output flange is on the gear box. I had a prop shortened/flange changed and balanced for £55 so it doesnt seem worth mixing them up if you have a place that can do this close by.

Gearbox output flange will be a an E30 sized one with M10 bolts, a similarly sized one with M12 bolts, or a larger one with M12 bolts, so the prop depends on this.
I would think that a 4.1 diff will make first gear virtually useless, and leave you without an effective fifth.

i will change the diff after a few weeks as soon as i have money for an lsd,3.64 or something but just wanna see what the short ratio's are like first.the standard e30 318is looks close just a little bit too long, might just get that shortened and a flange to match put onto it

It'll be amusing with the 4.1 diff though

Theres a guy in Midleton thats pretty good at this kinda machining, reasonable enough too. Did the driveshaft for us in doing a Daf truck engine conversion at home for something, had to be made 7 inches longer.
Paul Murphy is his name as far as I know. He has a small machine shop just in on the right on a small road into a housing estate as you go over the bridge by the Distillary on the left across from Manic Motors. I'll try get his Number off my Dad later on.
M42 rightness above 6500rpm, nobody can hear you scream

3.64 is still too tall. It's the equivalent of running a 4.5 with an E30 box.
Look on the kit car forums for prop shaft specialists. Around £100 gets you a special made up and balanced.

the output flange is the bigger flange,i have an e30 and an e36 prop and the flange is too big for both,im gonna use the standard 318is prop and get it shortened a little, and change the output flange on the gearbox to an m42 item,i presume itll fit yes?

Couldn't be done with the flanges I tried to swap over once. Can't remember what the boxes were, other than one was originally attached to a M50 engine.

This is what you should do!, m52 g/box flange onto my m50 gearbox, then shorten my e30 iS prop and put the flange from a 325 onto the iS prop, both are 78mm.prop place close by
