Weight in convertible boot

Okay... so why's it there? If it's to offset the drivers weight (for a LHD car), does that mean it's actually doing more harm than good in a RHD car & we'd be better off getting rid??

E30 in need of wiring loom smoke since April '11...

Hmmm... from reading around, it appears it's there as an anti-vibration measure. Still tempted to try without though!! Has anyone else done it? Particularly interested to know if the weight of ICE stuff would do instead!!

Ive heard of ppl taking it and and saying the handling went up the spout, but its only what ive half heard someplace.
Take it out and go for a blast!

Hmmm... it's very tempting to give it a go, but I'll have to find somewhere with nothing to hit when it all goes pearshaped first!!

been wonderin too!!! surely such a relatively light weight cannot affect handling too much??? that would equate to fcuking up your cars entire balance by popping back from saisburys with a couple of cases of beer in the boot!!
