M20 Engine Clean/wash

First time im going to be cleaning/washing the engine bay, what do i need to cover or watch out for?

cover up the fuse box with plastic, and dont spray water on it is possible. when i hose the engine i switch the car on, so the engine is idling. once done let it run for a min or so before switching off.

Make sure the fuses are well protected s Hyperion says - have made that mistake in the past.

Have also found that keepng the engine on a good idea and let it run for a few mins before driving or stopping engine.
